Black tea is one of the main types of tea in Chinese tea culture. Originating in Ming Dynasty from Zhengshan Xiaozhong tea in Wuyi Mountain, Fujian Province, black tea is renowned for its ability to be fermented and preserved for long periods. In 1610, Dutch merchants transported Zhengshan Xiaozhong tea bricks through their colonies in Indonesia to Europe, initiating Western black tea culture. Common characteristics of black tea include a sweet aroma resembling matured fruits, with hints of cane sugar, maltose, and honey. Its vivid red color akin to that of wine and its full-bodied, smooth taste distinguish it from green tea, making it uniquely sweet, mellow, and aromatic.
